Alissa-Leigh (Ali) Hewton
Registered Speech Language Pathologist
Ali is a Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to supporting children in building confidence and strengthening their communication skills. She holds a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia and is a registered member of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC) and Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC).
Ali brings a strong background in working with children and youth, including experience as an overnight outdoor summer camp counsellor and a child and youth care worker in group home settings. These roles have shaped her collaborative, strengths-based approach and deepened her commitment to supporting children and families to feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout their therapy journey.
Ali has a particular interest in early language development and in supporting access to functional, meaningful communication goals that promote equity and participation in everyday life. Her practice is grounded in client-centred, neurodiversity-affirming principles, with respect for the diverse ways individuals communicate, learn, and process information. She strives to create a therapeutic environment where neurodivergent children feel validated, safe, and supported.
Ali’s therapy approach is child-led and play-based. She believes children learn best through play, curiosity, and connection, and aims to make therapy motivating and enjoyable. Through play and shared activities, Ali builds strong therapeutic relationships and fosters a supportive space for children to learn and grow.
Collaboration is central to Ali’s practice. She enjoys working closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support meaningful and sustainable outcomes. Ali loves learning and is committed to evidence-based practice and regularly participates in professional development, workshops, and conferences to stay current in her field.
Outside of the clinic, Ali enjoys hot yoga, reading fiction, and spending time outdoors hiking with her dog, Charlie.
