Shannon Briggs

Registered Speech-Language Pathologist

Shannon Briggs received her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia and is registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC) and she is a member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). Additionally, Shannon is completing a clinical fellowship with the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Shannon is on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP). Shannon is a Clinical Educator for SLP practicum students. 

Shannon has experience working with a wide variety of pediatric speech, language and social communication delays and disorders. Shannon provides assessment for families seeking SLP services as part of a comprehensive autism evaluation.

Shannon has received training in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), an early intervention approach for young children with autism. She is certified in Hanen’s program “More Than Words”, a parent-implemented early intervention program for children with autism and social communication difficulties and another Hanen program, “It Takes Two To Talk”, a program for parents of young children who have language delays. She is also a certified provider for PEERS® (The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills), an evidence-based approach for teenagers with autism and other social communication challenges. Shannon has also completed courses in play-based therapy, playful learning and AAC. Additionally, Shannon is a certified Lidcombe provider, a behavioural treatment for children who stutter who are younger than 6 years. Shannon is also a certified PROMPT provider (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) which is an approach for motor speech disorder such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Shannon uses a play-based, child-led therapy approach and loves working alongside parents and their team to work towards functional outcomes.
